Simplicity VoIP Offers Internship to Virginia Tech Undergraduate
R. Frank Vasquez III selected as a summer intern
Richmond, VA Simplicity VoIP, a hosted VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and cloud services provider, has selected R. Frank Vasquez III (Tres) as it’s 2018 summer intern.
Tres is currently a rising Junior at Virginia Tech pursuing a degree in BIT, DSS (Business Information Technology, Decision Support Systems). A former graduate of Godwin High School, he was home for the summer and looking for a way to deepen his understanding of real-world application of his course work. Tres was introduced to Simplicity and was selected for a summer internship.
Simplicity VoIP and its parent company Comtel Communications has historically provided internship opportunities. “We believe in giving back to the community and to supporting young people. Being exposed to a company setting and the ability to cite an internship on their resume, helps set a college graduate up for employment after they earn their degree,” shares Ben Humphreys, founder and CEO.
“Tres is a serious and focused young man with a strong work ethic,” states Mike Martin, Simplicity’s operation manager. “He is very bright and demonstrates a genuine interest in the business.” During his internship, Tres is working Client Services with equipment staging and hardware default/IP configuration. Later this summer, Tres will also be on-site at customer locations with the technical team helping with installs and deployment of Simplicity’s new Class 5 VoIP platform.
“Internships are a win-win,” says Humphreys. “The intern is exposed to a professional setting and an area of business and the company gets to meet and vet rising talent. In the past, internships have led to actual hires who have proven to be valuable members of our organization.
